Otter Creek Farmstead & Distillery Kennels

Otter Creek Farmstead & Distillery Kennels raises English cocker spaniels, Brittanys, and German shorthaired pointers in Ohatchee, Alabama, about 60 miles east of Birmingham in the foothills of northeast Alabama. The operation is the vision of native Alabamians Frank and Jane Brown, who built it from a family farm into a working wingshooting lodge where pointing and flushing dogs are central to daily life.

The breeding program draws its English cocker spaniel stock from field-bred lines imported directly from the UK, as well as from proven field champion genetics within the United States. German shorthaired pointer and Brittany litters come from the kennel's own hunting stock. Every breeding dog is Embark tested for more than 200 genetic disorders and carries OFA-certified hips and elbows. Puppies are registered with the AKC and are placed based on temperament, drive, and personality evaluations conducted throughout their first eight weeks.

The kennel's goal is to produce dogs that perform in the field and settle comfortably into home life, and many pups raised here return to hunt the same grounds where they were born.
