Carter Brittany Kennels

Carter Brittany Kennels raises Brittany dogs in Ambrose, Georgia, situated in the heart of south Georgia quail country, roughly an hour south of Douglas in the coastal plain region. Jim Carter, DVM, and his wife Drew Carter own, breed, and train the kennel's dogs, with Jim having owned Brittanys since the late 1990s and practicing veterinary medicine since 1993.

The kennel holds American Kennel Club Breeder of Merit status, and Jim currently serves as President of the Georgia Chapter of the American Brittany Club. The program is rooted in AKC field competition, with breeding decisions aimed at producing national-caliber dogs. Among the kennel's most notable achievements, NGDC NAGDC FC AFC Peter Gunn became the first Brittany in breed history to earn every major national gun dog championship title and award. Sires and dams undergo breed-specific health testing before producing a litter, and all puppies carry a 26-month health guarantee against congenital genetic defects.

The kennel sits on over 1,300 managed acres of south Georgia pine country, giving dogs daily access to authentic quail grounds for training and conditioning. Puppies are hand-reared and socialized from birth, with the process continuing every day they remain at the kennel.
