Octoraro Angus raises angus cattle in New Paris, PA, Bedford County and the Allegheny Mountains near Altoona. The operation is led by Sam Wylie, a member of the American Angus Association with over 20 years of breeding experience, overseeing routine genetic selection alongside BVD and Johne’s disease testing. Animals are managed on pasture with a focus on low-stress handling, balanced nutrition and regular herd health checks. Feed is sourced locally from nearby grain producers, reinforcing a community-focused approach. Calves are weaned on-site and receive early socialization to handlers, which supports smooth transitions to new environments.
