Northstar

Northstar is a breeder of fainting (myotonic) goats in Dauphin, MB, in the Parkland region of Manitoba near Winnipeg.

Northstar and owner Bill Poast adhere to best practices in animal husbandry, registering each litter with a national goat association and arranging for routine health screenings including CAE and CL tests. With over a decade of experience working on farm-based conservation of the fainting goat, Northstar brings a deep respect for traditional breeding goals. The goats live in pasture-based herds with access to shelter and are gently socialized from a young age. The herd’s diet focuses on high-quality forage supplemented by mineral blends to support muscle development.

Many owners appreciate the calm temperament and sturdy build that result from the breeding program’s balanced selection for muscle and temperament. Located on open fields outside Dauphin, the farm provides a low-stress setting while remaining close to veterinary and supply services.
