Northeast Shires

Northeast Shires is a breeder of Shire horses in Pine Grove, PA, located in Schuylkill County and the Coal Region near Harrisburg. Shay Shollenberger has been raising Shire horses for over a decade with membership in the American Shire Horse Association and the American Driving Society, following breeding standards that include genetic health screening and regular veterinary, dental and farrier care.

Their horses enjoy pasture turnout supplemented by custom grain mixes and hay, and newborn foals receive daily handling in a family setting to foster confidence. Many of their breeding stock carry championship bloodlines and foals have gone on to driving competitions and local heritage events, reflecting a blend of tradition and careful selection.

Northeast Shires maintains a century-old stone barn and modern paddock facilities, with clean stalls and shelter in each turnout area. Visits by appointment allow prospective owners to meet each horse, learn about its upbringing and observe daily routines.
