Larry Berthiaume

Larry Berthiaume breeds Percheron horses in South Haven, MN, and works in southern Minnesota near Minneapolis. He has been involved in Percheron breeding for several years and participates in national draft horse associations, with each horse receiving regular veterinary care and farrier visits.

His horses live in open pastures where they learn to navigate varied terrain and build strong leg muscles from an early age. Barns are designed to shelter them during harsh winter months while allowing free movement and social interaction. A balanced diet combines hay grown on-site with a grain-based ration tailored to each horse’s developmental stage. Foals are socialized with both children and other farm animals to promote a calm disposition. Each animal undergoes basic genetic screening for known Percheron disorders alongside regular veterinary checkups. Each foal leaves the farm with documentation of health screenings and a detailed record of its early training milestones.
