Langford Cattle

Langford Cattle has been raising registered Hereford cattle in Okmulgee, Oklahoma since 1918, making it one of the longest-running Hereford operations in eastern Oklahoma. The ranch sits about 23 miles west of Muskogee, in the green rolling country of the Arkansas River basin, and has grown over the decades to span approximately 4,500 acres.

The operation built its reputation around registered Hereford cattle for sale to commercial producers across the country, and is recognized as one of the nation's largest private treaty horned Hereford producers. All cattle are sold direct, year-round, which allows buyers to work one-on-one with the family rather than navigate an auction setting. EPDs and DNA data are made available to help commercial cattlemen make informed decisions for their own programs.

Selection priorities center on fertility, do-ability, and structural correctness, with an emphasis on cows that hold condition and breed back efficiently. The program runs an active AI and embryo transfer program aimed at pushing herd quality and genetic consistency forward at a pace that natural breeding alone cannot match. Both EPDs and the experienced eye of a seasoned cattleman inform breeding choices. The next generation of the family is already involved in day-to-day ranch work, carrying forward more than a century of accumulated Hereford knowledge in this part of Oklahoma.
