Knoll Crest Farms

Knoll Crest Farm has been producing seedstock cattle genetics in Red House, Virginia since 1944, making it one of the longer-standing family operations in the southside Virginia region. Run by the Bennett family, the farm sits on more than 3,000 acres and maintains a base cow herd of 800 females, with Paul Bennett among the family members currently at the helm.

The operation was originally founded in 1929 by Paul D. and Mrs. Bennett as a tobacco and commercial cattle farm, with registered breeding beginning in the mid-1940s. That commercial-producer mindset has remained central to the farm's approach: selection has long centered on economically important traits such as reproduction, growth, and performance data rather than show-ring aesthetics alone. Knoll Crest earned the Beef Improvement Federation's Seedstock Producer of the Year award in both 1978 and 1998, and James Bennett, who guided much of the program's development, was inducted into the Virginia Livestock Hall of Fame in 2012.

Located in the rolling hills of southside Virginia roughly an hour south of Lynchburg, the farm works with Angus, Hereford, and Gelbvieh genetics, and Brangus cattle are also part of the current program.
