Killochries Fold

Killochries Fold has been raising pedigree highland cattle in Renfrewshire, Scotland, since 1995, with the fold situated on a high hill farm in the west of Scotland near Glasgow. Run by I. Graham as part of the Aird Farming Group, the herd has grown to well over two hundred head through deliberate selection of foundation females and careful sourcing of bulls from some of the most respected lines in the United Kingdom.

The program places genetics ahead of supplemental feeding — calves are not creep-fed, so performance figures reflect the cow's own ability to raise her calf. All cattle are signet recorded, and DNA samples are held on file for the herd. Cows calve at three years old, and any cow not in calf is culled, a policy that has repeatedly delivered 100% in-calf rates across the herd.

A dedicated black Highland fold rounds out the program, with foundation stock traced to the celebrated Rigg dispersal, preserving bloodlines assembled over decades by the late Archie Howat. Killochries bulls have gone on to breed in many leading folds across the UK, and the fold is a regular presence at the Oban show and sale, where its cattle have taken class wins and topped pedigree sale prices.
