K2 Red Angus
K2 Red Angus raises registered red Angus cattle in Wheatland, Wyoming, a ranching community in Platte County about an hour north of Cheyenne. The operation is run by Jason and Kim Cullen Goertz, both of whom grew up on ranches in the area. Kim earned an Animal Science degree from the University of Wyoming and developed her affinity for the breed while working in the university's embryo transfer program before building her own herd.
The program has grown considerably from its early private-treaty roots into one that offers registered red Angus bulls and heifers alongside a large commercial female cowherd. Red Angus cattle for sale in Wyoming from K2 reflect the operation's full-cycle approach: the Goertzes follow their cattle from breeding through to finished beef, which informs the selection decisions they make at every stage. PAP testing is part of the program for buyers who will run cattle in high-altitude country, a practical consideration given Wyoming's diverse terrain.
Beyond the registered herd, K2 also runs commercial cattle, practices embryo transfer, and raises dryland and irrigated crops including hay, wheat, oats, and millet. The family's two children, Cole and Laynie, maintain their own registered and commercial cows as part of the ranch, keeping the operation rooted in its multigenerational character.
