Jw's Mini Moo's

JW's Mini Moo's raises registered miniature zebu cattle on a small acreage in Vineland, Colorado, about eight miles east of Pueblo in the southern part of the state. William Hughes and his wife Julie started watching the breed at the Colorado State Fair as far back as 2011, and by 2015 they had purchased their first two miniature zebu and committed fully to building a herd.

Every animal in the program is registered, and the herd has grown steadily since those first two calves arrived. The farm selects for exotic traits prized in the show ring, including a narrow facial structure and long body, and has produced notable animals such as "Queenie," a Permanent Grand Champion cow who won Champion Challenge Cow at the National Western Stock Show in Denver. Hughes serves as superintendent of both the Colorado State Fair Miniature Zebu Show and the National Western Stock Show Miniature Zebu Show, roles he helped create after founding the zebu show at the National Western in 2018.

The program has a strong community and education focus, bringing animals to events across the region and participating in shows as far as the State Fair of Texas and the State Fair of Louisiana.
