Jennifer Sanders - Stassa Icelandics

Stassa Icelandics, run by Jennifer Sanders in Jeddo, Michigan, breeds icelandic sheepdogs with a clear emphasis on the conformation ring and working instincts. Jeddo sits in the Thumb region of Michigan's Lower Peninsula, roughly an hour northeast of Flint.

Jennifer's first icelandic sheepdog, Vinlands Leifur, became the first AKC Silver and Gold Grand Champion in the breed and earned 33 group placements. From her first litter, the program produced two champions: Hidow Stassa First Tri and a second dog who earned Best Bred-By in Show at the ISAA National in Greeley, Colorado and Best of Winners at the following year's Purina Farms ISAA National. The kennel's dogs have also earned recognition at Westminster, including Selects, a Best of Breed, a Best of Opposite Sex, and an Award of Merit. At least one dog in the program has achieved international Best in Show honors along with multiple owner-handled group placements.

Beyond the show ring, the program incorporates working aptitude testing. Dogs in the kennel have been herding instinct tested and barn hunt instinct tested, reflecting a commitment to preserving the functional traits of the breed alongside correct structure. OFA health testing is a stated priority for the program, with the stated goal of producing icelandic sheepdog puppies in Michigan that combine sound movement, good temperament, and structural correctness. Jennifer has credited Icelandic breeder Stefania Sigurdardottir of Stefsstells Iceland as a mentor in developing the program.
