Hergert Family Farm

Hergert Family Farm raises Newfoundlands in Lingle, Wyoming, set among the open prairie and farmland of southeastern Wyoming. Spencer Hergert runs the program in a rural setting that gives the dogs room to grow up in an unhurried, wide-open environment, roughly two hours north of Cheyenne.

Health testing is a clear priority for the program. Breeding dogs carry five-generation AKC pedigrees and are evaluated for hip integrity via PennHIP, as well as OFA heart and elbow clearances. Genetic testing for cystinuria and degenerative myelopathy is also part of the screening process, with parents confirmed clear or carrier-not-at-risk before being included in the breeding program.

The farm also raises Great Pyrenees alongside its Newfoundlands, making it a source for Newfoundland puppies in Wyoming as well as the surrounding region. The combination of documented health clearances and a working-farm upbringing reflects a practical, grounded approach to producing large-breed dogs built to last.
