HCR Great Danes

HCR Great Danes, run by Jes Radius, raises Great danes on a 30-acre property in Granby, Missouri, a small town in the Ozarks region of southwest Missouri, roughly 30 miles south of Joplin. The dogs have room to roam across the acreage, which is largely fenced to give them safe outdoor freedom throughout the day.

Health testing is a central part of the program. All breeding dogs hold a CHIC number through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals and carry AKC registration. Before any dog is bred, the protocol includes hip radiographs for dysplasia screening, an ophthalmologist eye exam, an echocardiogram performed by a board-certified cardiologist, and a thyroid panel. Any dog that does not return optimal results across all four tests is not used for breeding.

Puppies are socialized from an early age and introduced to basic housebreaking before going to their new homes. Each litter receives two veterinary exams, age-appropriate vaccinations, and a regular deworming schedule.
