Golden Acres Ranch
Golden Acres Ranch raises miniature Tennessee fainting goats on forty-three acres of pasture and native-tree groves just north of Monticello, in Florida's panhandle region, roughly an hour east of Tallahassee. Bobbie Golden and her husband Fred started the ranch in the early 2000s as an encore career, coming to the land without prior farming experience and building the operation from the ground up.
The herd is raised naturally — pasture-grazed without pesticides or hormones — and Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs watch over the goats and sheep around the clock. Fainting (myotonic) goats for sale in Florida from Golden Acres go to families for use as pets, for vegetation management, or for breeding stock.
The ranch also keeps wool sheep for fiber, free-ranging poultry, and guinea fowl, making it a true working farm in Jefferson County. Farm tours are a regular part of life at Golden Acres, and the on-site country store carries jelly made from the native Mayhaw trees that grow along the property — a fruit found only in a narrow corridor stretching across the Florida panhandle, Louisiana, and parts of Texas.
