Forestwind

Forestwind, run by Kate Stryker in Buffalo, New York, has been raising Siberian cats for well over a decade, making it one of the longer-standing sources for Siberian cat breeders in the western New York region, within easy reach of the greater Great Lakes area.

The cattery operates on a cage-free model, with cats living as household companions rather than in a kennel setting. Kittens are raised on a raw diet, and the program has a particular focus on families affected by cat allergies or asthma — the majority of Forestwind's kittens are placed into allergic or asthmatic homes. Kate's own family came to the Siberian breed through personal experience with cat allergies, which shapes how the program screens and supports prospective families.

Health testing is a serious part of the program. Adult breeding cats are screened for HCM and PKD by a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist, and all breeding cats are tested through Optimal Selection for known genetic diseases and select coat traits. Adults are also kept current on feline leukemia vaccines, and the cattery offers a genetic health warranty that includes FIP coverage. Forestwind is registered with TICA.
