Forestway Chows
Forestway Chows has been part of southeastern Michigan's chow chow community since Kim and John Tansek brought home their first chow in 1985. Based in Monroe, roughly 35 miles southwest of Detroit, the program has grown through decades of hands-on involvement in conformation, obedience, and pet therapy through several chow and all-breed clubs.
The kennel maintains chow chows in all five AKC-recognized colors and in both rough and smooth coat varieties. All dogs are raised inside the family home, and puppies are socialized with people and new situations from an early age. Selective breeding at Forestway centers on structure, health, and temperament rather than color or volume — a philosophy the Tanseks describe plainly as quality over quantity.
For anyone searching for chow chow puppies in Michigan, Forestway Chows represents a long-running home-based program with a consistent focus on sound, well-tempered dogs across the full range of the breed's coat and color expressions.
