Fluit Dorpers

Fluit Dorpers is a farm raising Dorper sheep in Joseph, OR, Wallowa County and the Blue Mountains near La Grande. Under Lexi Fluit’s care since its founding, Fluit Dorpers has focused breeding on hardiness, fertility, and maternal traits, coordinating routine veterinary screenings and maintaining comprehensive health and lineage records.

The flock grazes on rotating pastures rich in native grasses, with all sheep having access to mobile shelters that ensure shade, fresh air and protection from changing weather. Lambs grow up in a low-stress setting where small-group socialization begins early, fostering a calm temperament and adaptability suited to both pasture life and close handling. Several lambs have earned recognition at the Wallowa County fair for sturdy conformation and gentle demeanor, reflecting consistent attention to breeding goals and on-farm stewardship. The operation reflects several years of hands-on experience in mountain sheep husbandry, balancing sustainable grazing practices with attentive care and community-minded support.
