Fieldcrest Farms

Fieldcrest Farms raises fainting (myotonic) goats in Pleasant Plains, Illinois, about 20 miles northwest of Springfield in central Illinois. The farm is run by Amy Deriemacker, whose herd grazes on pastures planted with a diverse forage mix including endophyte-free tall fescue, orchard grass, smooth brome, red clover, and birdsfoot trefoil.

Pasture management is a clear priority at Fieldcrest Farms. The herd is rotational grazed and pastures are mowed to maintain optimal grazing height, with flash grazing by miniature horses used as an additional tool to interrupt parasite cycles. Three livestock guardian dogs watch over both the goat herd and the farm's poultry.

The farm has been active in the show ring with the Myotonic Goat Registry (MGR) since 2013, competing with their fainting (myotonic) goats and using the experience to continually evaluate and improve their herd.
