Dunlouise Heritage Native Aberdeen Angus

Dunlouise Heritage Native Aberdeen Angus raises black angus cattle of the original Native Angus bloodlines at Kingston Farm near Forfar, in the county of Angus in eastern Scotland, roughly an hour and a quarter from Aberdeen.

Geordie Soutar founded the program in 1995, purchasing the first Native females and spending the following fifteen years gathering up the remaining cow families to ensure their survival. The herd now carries all ten cow families left in existence within the Native Angus lineage, pedigrees traceable back more than 180 years with no imported bloodlines recorded anywhere in their ancestry.

Working with original British genetics, the program uses bulls whose bloodlines date back at least fifty years. Since 2017, Geordie and the family have focused on genetic improvement across all cow families, selecting specifically for foot, leg, and udder structure, while an active embryo program helps preserve the rarest family lines. The term "Native Angus" itself was agreed with the Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society and the Rare Breeds Survival Trust in 2001, a certification mark Dunlouise played a central role in establishing. In 2021, Geordie received a medal at Windsor Castle in recognition of his work preserving and propagating these heritage genetics.
