Double D Mini's

Double D Mini’s is raising Hereford cattle in Maquoketa, IA, in Jackson County and the Driftless Area near Dubuque. With more than a decade of breeding experience, it maintains registration with the American Hereford Association and follows standardized health screenings.

Herds graze on rotational pastures and calves are socialized from birth to encourage gentle temperaments. Calves are weaned at eight months and receive individualized monitoring to track growth and health milestones. All breeding stock undergoes annual hoof trimming, vaccination against common pathogens, genetic screening through accredited laboratories and selective bull evaluations using performance records to refine growth rates and feed efficiency. During winter months, cattle have access to heated barns, free-choice minerals and salt licks for consistent nourishment.

A recent review noted the uniform coat color and steady disposition of the calves. Operating on family land since 1965, the farm balances traditional husbandry with certified organic pasture management to support herd resilience.
