Donelan Dorpers

Donelan Dorpers is a breeder of Dorper sheep in DeSmet, SD, in east-central South Dakota near Sioux Falls. Theia Donelan has raised Dorper sheep for more than a decade, follows guidelines of the American Dorper Sheep Society, and participates in performance evaluations for growth and structure.

Their flocks graze on rotational pastures and lambs are socialized from birth to ensure calm temperaments. Records are kept meticulously for breeding lines, and lambing areas are cleaned daily to promote health and growth. Shade huts and constant access to fresh water support comfort across warm summers and cold winters.

Donelan Dorpers also contributes to local agricultural fairs, offering flocks that reflect the region’s resilience to seasonal weather. Nutritional plans include trace minerals to support muscle development and fleece health. The farm blends small-scale stewardship with attention to maternal traits and uniform fleece quality.
