Jasper established a purebred shorthorn herd called Newbiggon in 1918, and his son Herb continued the tradition starting in 1964 with the Frimley herd. Several foundation cow families established in those early decades, including descendants of the original Braeside Rosy Dawn, remain represented in the herd today.

Selection has emphasized fleshing ability, body depth, udder quality, and consistent performance across generations. Past herd sires have produced offspring shown and sold at major Canadian events including Agribition, and the program has contributed genetics that have reached shorthorn breeders as far as Scotland.
