Debra Lucero

Debra Lucero raises ADGA-registered Nigerian dwarf goats at Anatevka Farms in Palmer, Alaska, about 40 miles northeast of Anchorage in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. The herd is small and managed with a dual focus: selecting for strong milk production while also identifying animals suited to Alaska's demanding climate.

Anatevka Farms participates in ADGA performance programs, including milk test, and has produced does that appear on the ADGA ELITE list as well as descendants from top 10 does. In the fall of 2023, Debra helped organize a special Linear Appraisal session with ADGA alongside three other Alaskan Nigerian dwarf breeders — the first appraisal event in the state since 2018 — with the goal of using formal conformation data to guide herd development.

Those looking for dairy crosses and Nigerian dwarf goats for sale in Alaska will find that Anatevka Farms is one of the more data-driven small herds in the state, leaning on ADGA performance metrics to make breeding decisions in a region where access to shows and regular appraisal events is limited.
