Chesarab, Sheila Divaccaro

Chesarab Kennels has been raising Chesapeake Bay retrievers in Woodstown, New Jersey, since 1957, making it one of the longest-running Chessie programs in the country. Founded by Dick and Sheila DiVaccaro, the kennel grew out of a desire for a versatile hunting dog with a willing, even-tempered disposition. Woodstown sits in Salem County in southern New Jersey, roughly 30 miles south of Philadelphia.

Over the decades the program became a family endeavor, with the next generation carrying it forward. The kennel's Chesapeake Bay retriever puppies are bred to compete across multiple disciplines, including conformation, obedience, hunt tests, and field trials. Sheila DiVaccaro holds an AKC Breeder of Merit designation, and the kennel is a long-standing member of the American Chesapeake Club, having joined in 1960. All breeding stock undergoes health screening, including PennHIP, PRA, DM, and EIC testing.

Labrador retriever puppies with field trial bloodlines round out the program, with those dogs active in field trials and hunt tests as well.
