Carrie Runyan

Carrie Runyan raises Nigerian dwarf goats on a family farm near Waynetown, Indiana, roughly an hour northwest of Indianapolis. The program took root in 2016 when the family began exploring new 4-H livestock projects, growing from two yearling does into a registered ADGA herd.

Breeding stock has been sourced from farms across Indiana, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, and Kentucky, broadening the genetic diversity of the herd. The family is active in both 4-H and FFA, and showing is part of how they evaluate and refine their animals over time.

Herd health is a consistent priority at Runyan Farms. Annual CAE testing and spot testing for Johnes are conducted on every animal, with blood samples submitted individually. Incoming animals are also screened, and the farm is selective about sourcing from herds with clean test histories.
