Camelot Shires

Camelot Shires is a breeder of Shire horses in Appleton, MN, in western Minnesota near Minneapolis. It has been part of the American Shire Horse Association for more than fifteen years and follows recommended health protocols, including annual dental exams and regular veterinary soundness evaluations. Owner Randy G. Risch draws on decades of hands-on experience to guide breeding choices toward sound conformation and gentle dispositions.

Horses live on 80 acres of pasture with access to run-in sheds and daily turnout for natural social interaction. Foals are handled daily from birth and integrated into family life to foster trust and adaptability. The farm practices low-stress handling and seasonal farrier visits to support strong hooves. Many graduates from Camelot Shires have taken part in regional draft pulling events and farm heritage demonstrations.
