Calk Farm

Calk Farm, Kiko goats, Mount Sterling, KY, serves Montgomery County and the Bluegrass region near Lexington. Reginald and Elizabeth Pederson have been breeding Kiko stock for more than a decade, holding membership in national registries and conducting routine health screenings for CAE, CL and parasitic resistance.

Animals live in pasture rotations designed for optimal grazing and receive daily handling to encourage friendly, calm temperaments. The herd benefits from organic mineral supplementation, quarterly hoof trimming and selective parasite management without heavy reliance on chemicals. A gentle approach to kid rearing pairs youngsters with adult does to establish strong social bonds before they depart for new homes.

The Pederson family has maintained the property since the 1970s, blending traditional pasture methods with thoughtful genetic selection. One buck achieved a top placement at a regional livestock fair, reflecting the farm’s focus on sound structure and resilience.
