Boelkens Farm

Boelkens Farm raises Katahdin sheep in Lanark, Illinois, in Carroll County and northwest Illinois near Rockford. David and Janalee Boelkens adhere to breed association standards and keep detailed health records with regular screenings to support a hardy, parasite-resistant flock. They maintain a flock of about 40 breeding ewes to ensure individual attention and practice selective breeding for strong maternal lines. Their sheep graze on rotational pastures, which promotes soil health, and have year-round shelter, allowing lambs to thrive in a low-stress setting.

As a hair sheep breed, Katahdins shed naturally, reducing handling stress and trimming requirements.
