Birch Hollow

Birch Hollow Farm raises Great Pyrenees in Monmouth, Maine, a small town in Kennebec County about 30 minutes west of Augusta. Marissa Flewelling runs the farm, which has its roots in a love of goats that goes back to 2003, when the first two arrived as pets.

The Great Pyrenees came into the picture as working livestock guardian dogs living alongside the farm's pygmy goat herd around the clock. That hands-on experience with both species shaped how the program approaches the breed — as capable working dogs that can also thrive as family companions. Puppies come from OFA-certified parents that have been through a full health panel, and each pup is microchipped, dewormed, vaccinated, and veterinarian-checked before leaving the farm. AKC limited registration accompanies each placement.
