Atak Limousin
Atak Limousin has been raising Limousin cattle in Avon, Illinois since 1985, when Andy and Tammy Schmalshof established the operation as a family endeavor in west-central Illinois, roughly an hour north of Peoria. Now spanning multiple generations of the Schmalshof family, the program has grown into one of the more recognized Limousin cattle operations in the region.
The foundation of the Atak program centers on building and refining cow families over decades, selecting genetics that perform both in the show ring and in the commercial pasture or feedlot. Rather than chasing individual standout animals, the emphasis has long been on identifying donor cow families with lasting influence and pairing them with a carefully assembled bull battery.
Those looking for Limousin cattle for sale in Illinois will find that Atak's program is oriented equally toward the purebred seed stock producer and the commercial cattleman, with genetics that are meant to be profitable across production systems, not just competitive at shows.
