A & S Highlands raises Highland cattle in Chalfont, PA, in Bucks County and southeastern Pennsylvania near Philadelphia. The herd is based at Coleman Hay Farms, and the farm offers weaned Highland calves for sale.
Along with its calves, A & S Highlands hosts private Highland Moo Meet & Greets by appointment each month. Guests meet the adult Highlands through a fence with staff on hand, and each session includes fun facts, photo opportunities and time for questions about cow care. The farm also offers seasonal farm tours and events.
Cattle are herd animals that do best with steady routines, room to graze and regular attention to feed, water and health. If you're thinking about adding cattle to a small farm, meeting the animals in person and learning what they need ahead of time can make the move into ownership easier. Chalfont sits in a part of PA where pastures and small farms are still part of the local landscape.
