Roxy came into our lives on May 1st, 2023 after my wife found a stray husky wandering through a Church’s Chicken parking lot in San Antonio. Cars were honking, people were yelling, and she was clearly struggling to survive. She was emaciated. You could see every rib through her coat. Burrs were tangled in her fur, her nails were badly overgrown, and what should have been a bright white coat was stained brown from dirt and grime.
At the time I was still heartbroken from leaving my dog Itzhak back home in Indiana when I joined the Army. When this scraggly husky, so clearly in need of love and stability, landed in our lives it felt like fate stepped in.
From the very beginning we made her one promise. One day we would get her to the snow.
On January 25th, 2026, nearly 1,400 miles from where she was found, we finally kept that promise. Roxy experienced her first real snowstorm and immediately showed us exactly who she was meant to be.
A husky.
These days she is exactly what you would expect. A fluffy ball of chaos with a big personality, constantly racing her sisters around the yard, jumping over anything she can, and providing nonstop husky commentary. She talks back, demands attention, and fully believes the world revolves around her.
From a starving stray in a parking lot to a snow loving husky living her best life, Roxy’s story is proof that sometimes the right dog finds you exactly when you need them. 🐺❄️🐾
