Crossbred
A crossbred white cockatoo is a Cacatua alba with known or suspected ancestry from another cockatoo species, or from lines that were crossed outside a managed pedigree. White cockatoos, often called umbrella cockatoos, are native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia and are recognized by white plumage, a broad fan-shaped crest, dark bill, and yellow wash under the wings and tail. Crossbred is a husbandry description, not a formal parrot breed.
These birds need care planned for a large, long-lived cockatoo: substantial space, daily social contact, chewable enrichment, bathing opportunities, and a varied diet that is not built around sunflower seed. Parentage matters if a bird is being bred, transferred, or represented as conservation-relevant stock. Because white cockatoos are threatened and trade is regulated in many places, paperwork, microchip or band details, and honest labeling are important.
