Unknown Breed
An unknown breed red-shouldered macaw is best understood as a red-shouldered macaw with undocumented subspecies or captive-line background. The species, Diopsittaca nobilis, ranges across parts of northern South America and is a small, mostly green macaw with a red bend of the wing, a long tapered tail, and the vocal confidence of a much larger parrot. Pet trade names such as Hahn's macaw are sometimes used loosely, so the unknown label can reflect missing paperwork, juvenile appearance, or uncertainty after several generations in aviculture.
In care, an unknown-line bird has the same needs as any red-shouldered macaw: roomy housing, supervised out-of-cage time, chewing material, bathing opportunities, and steady social interaction. A varied parrot diet and regular avian-veterinary checks are more important than assigning a breed name. For breeding, unknown ancestry limits the bird's value for subspecies projects, but it may still be a suitable companion or non-conservation aviary bird if temperament, health, and legal source are clear.
