Mixed Morph
A mixed-morph pacman frog is an ornate horned frog, Ceratophrys ornata, or a trade-listed pacman frog with color traits from more than one captive morph line. The species is a heavy-bodied South American ambush frog with a very wide mouth, short limbs, and small horn-like points over the eyes. Wild-type ornate frogs are green with dark and reddish markings, while captive labels may refer to albino, strawberry, high red, blue, samurai, fantasy, or other color patterns. In mixed morph animals, those labels may describe appearance rather than a predictable genetic recipe.
Care is the same as for other pacman frogs: solitary housing, damp burrowing substrate, warm stable conditions, clean shallow water, and prey sized to prevent choking or impaction. These frogs are handled as little as possible because their skin is sensitive and they tend to lunge at movement. Breeders should record parent morphs and confirm species, since the pacman frog trade sometimes mixes ornate, Cranwell's, and hybrid animals under similar names.
