Mediterranean House Gecko
Hemidactylus turcicus
The Mediterranean house gecko is a small, nocturnal, egg-laying gecko native to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, and widely established in the southern United States and other warm regions. Pale, almost translucent skin speckled with darker spots and rows of raised, wart-like tubercles help tell it apart from the common house gecko.
Adults reach about 4 to 5 inches (10 to 13 cm) including the tail. Keepers use secure, well-sealed enclosures with vertical climbing surfaces, shelters, a warm gradient and small insect prey. Females lay clutches of one or two hard-shelled eggs several times a season. It is Hemidactylus turcicus, sometimes sold as the Turkish gecko.
