Unknown Morph
An unknown-morph green and black poison dart frog is a Dendrobates auratus with no reliable morph or locality identity. The frog may still be visually vivid, but color alone cannot prove whether it came from a particular captive line or wild locality background. Unknown is a useful label for rescues, inherited frogs, pet-store animals, and offspring from undocumented pairings.
Keepers should manage unknown-morph auratus as healthy captive dart frogs, not as breeding stock for named lines. A planted vivarium with humidity, drainage, leaf litter, hides, and small live foods supports normal behavior and courtship. If they reproduce, offspring should be labeled from unknown parents rather than assigned a marketable morph name. For institutions or hobbyists, honest labeling protects both animal care and the long-term value of well-documented auratus lines.
