Mixed Variety
A mixed-variety freshwater angelfish is a Pterophyllum scalare from blended ornamental lines rather than a single named color strain. Domestic angelfish have been selected for patterns such as marble, koi, gold, black, silver, blushing, platinum, leopard, chocolate and Philippine blue, and many aquarium fish carry several of these backgrounds at once. The result may be attractive but hard to classify, with color, striping, body sheen or fin traits that do not match show descriptions cleanly.
Management is the same as for other freshwater angelfish: warm, stable water, a tall aquarium, calm tankmates, and good filtration without harsh current. They are cichlids, so pairs may become territorial when spawning on broad leaves, slate or filter tubes. Mixed-variety fish are common in community tanks and small breeding projects, but sellers and breeders should avoid promising predictable offspring unless the parents and grandparents are known. Choose fish with straight bodies, full fins, clear eyes and steady swimming rather than by color name alone.
