Cobra
Cobra guppies carry a snakeskin-like pattern of dark bars, rosettes, and linked markings across the body and often into the tail. They are fancy Poecilia reticulata strains, and the name refers to the printed reptile-scale look rather than to any connection with wild cobras. Yellow cobra, red cobra, green cobra, blue cobra, and mixed cobra labels describe the background color beneath the pattern. In strong males the markings remain visible from shoulder to caudal fin, while females are usually less ornate but can pass the pattern reliably.
The main challenge is keeping the pattern clean after generations of breeding. Selected pairs should have crisp reticulation, active movement, and fins that are large enough to display but not so heavy that the fish struggles. Cobra guppies can live in peaceful planted aquariums with the usual guppy requirements for warm stable water and good oxygenation. If they are allowed to breed freely with unrelated fancy guppies, the offspring may still be attractive, but they will quickly lose the look of a named cobra line.
