Bicolor
Bicolor is a broad fancy guppy label for Poecilia reticulata strains in which two colors dominate the body and fins. In show and hobby use it often means a clear contrast between the body and caudal fin, such as a dark or pale body with a red, yellow, blue, orange, or green tail. Some lines look neatly divided, while others are sold as bicolor simply because two strong tones are visible. Males show the pattern most clearly; females may appear plain while carrying the same color genetics.
Keeping the look consistent takes more selection than casual community breeding. Pairings are chosen for sharp color boundaries, balanced tails, sound bodies, and the absence of extra patches that turn the line into a general mixed fancy guppy. Fry need clean, uncrowded grow-out space so color and fin shape can be judged as they mature. In home aquariums, bicolor guppies are best kept with small peaceful fish, since long-tailed males are easy targets for fin nippers.
