Crossbred
Crossbred Eurasian collared dove describes a dove with ancestry from more than one captive line, color variety, or closely related Streptopelia dove, rather than a straightforward wild-type Streptopelia decaocto. Pure Eurasian collared doves are pale buff grey birds with a slim body, long squared tail, and black half-collar on the nape. Crossbred birds may show altered collar shape, size, voice, tail pattern, or colors such as white, pied, or albino, especially when domestic ringneck or Barbary dove lines are involved.
In aviaries, crossbred doves can be pleasant, steady birds, but their identity should be kept clear. They should not be released, and they are a poor fit for conservation, wildlife education, or breeding projects that need verified wild-type stock. Practical care is the same as for other small doves: a dry flight with room to fly, a compatible pair, seed and small grains, calcium or mineral grit, and simple nest platforms if breeding is allowed.
