Mixed Breed
A mixed breed diamond dove is an informal listing for a domestic Geopelia cuneata whose family background does not fit one named color line. Diamond doves are not divided into standardized breeds in the way many poultry or pigeons are; most variation in captivity comes from color mutations and the way those mutations are combined. A mixed bird may be normal grey, silver, cinnamon, pied, white, albino, orange, or visually somewhere between expected categories, especially if several recessive traits are present.
For a pet home or rescue placement, mixed background is usually less important than age, body condition, mobility, and compatibility with other quiet birds. These small doves need more horizontal space than their size suggests, since they spend much of the day moving between low perches and the floor. Keep records if chicks are produced, because visual color alone can be misleading. In breeding pens, pair choice should avoid close relatives and should not be used to promise show-quality or mutation-pure young.
