The Day Gecko (Phelsuma grandis), also known as the Giant Day Gecko, is a vibrant and eye-catching reptile native to the tropical rainforests of Madagascar. Renowned for its striking appearance, this gecko boasts a vivid green body adorned with red and blue patterns, making it a popular choice for reptile enthusiasts and a charismatic ambassador for Madagascar’s unique biodiversity. The Day Gecko is diurnal, which means it's active during the day, unlike most other gecko species. It typically grows to about 10 to 12 inches in length, making it one of the largest members of the genus Phelsuma.

This species is arboreal, spending much of its time climbing trees, and it is often found on banana plants, where it forages for insects, nectar, and pollen. The Day Gecko has specialized toe pads that allow it to adhere to smooth surfaces, a trait it shares with other geckos. Highly territorial, these geckos display a fascinating array of behaviors, including vibrant coloration displays and vocalizations to ward off rivals.
