Chinese Striped-Necked Turtle
Mauremys sinensis
The Chinese striped-necked turtle is an egg-laying freshwater turtle from southern China, Taiwan and adjoining mainland Southeast Asia. Numerous fine pale stripes cover its neck and head, and the brown shell may show low keels. It is established in specialist hobby and zoo collections. Housing needs filtered swimming water, an accessible basking area, sheltered land and nesting space. Older records may place the species in Ocadia rather than Mauremys.
