Unknown Morph
An unknown morph carpet python is a Morelia spilota kept or sold without verified morph information. The snake may look like a named mutation such as caramel, albino, axanthic, granite, hypo, or jaguar, but resemblance alone does not prove genetics. This label is common with rescues, older collections, pet-store animals, and snakes whose paperwork has been lost. It can also cover normal-looking animals that may carry recessive traits, often called possible hets, without enough evidence to advertise them as such.
The safest approach is to manage the animal as an individual carpet python and disclose the uncertainty. Provide the same enclosure standards used for the species, including secure locks, climbing opportunities, stable heat, and a feeding schedule based on age and body condition. Breeding an unknown morph can be worthwhile for experienced keepers, but offspring should be labeled from actual results rather than guesses. Buyers should ask for hatch date, feeding records, parent photos when available, and any health notes before paying morph-level prices.
