Brown House Snake
Boaedon capensis
The brown house snake is an egg-laying southern African snake found in varied habitats, including places around buildings. Adults are usually brown with pale lines along the head and a light underside. It is established in specialist hobby collections; secure housing needs retreats, floor space and a controlled thermal gradient. Its scientific name is Boaedon capensis. Older records can use the unresolved name B. fuliginosus; it is not a settled taxonomic synonym or evidence of a second species.
