Mixed Breed
A mixed breed African grey parrot is a nonstandard label for a bird whose Congo, Timneh, or other grey-parrot background is blended or uncertain. Since African greys are not domestic breeds in the way dogs or livestock are, mixed breed usually means mixed form, unclear subspecies history, or incomplete records. The bird may look mostly Congo, mostly Timneh, or show traits that do not fit cleanly.
Care decisions should be based on the individual parrot's age, health, confidence, and social history. Mixed-background African greys need patient handling, mental work, safe chewing material, and steady routines that reduce anxiety. Breeding such birds requires caution because conservation, legality, and identification issues can be involved. For companion placement, transparent source notes and realistic expectations are more valuable than trying to attach a precise label.
