Zionforest
Zionforest raises Norwegian forest cats in Snohomish, Washington, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, about an hour northeast of Seattle. The cattery was established in 2022 by Tara, David, and Nicole Johnson, whose interest in the breed grew from a personal connection — Tara has Norwegian heritage on her father's side, and the family owned their first Wegie before deciding to move into showing and breeding.
All cats at Zionforest are registered with both TICA and CFA, and the program adheres to TICA's Code of Ethics. Health testing is a consistent part of the breeding program: all cats are tested negative for Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency and Glycogen Storage Disease IV, and regularly screened for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Selective breeding focuses on true breed standard conformation — strong build, proper coat density and texture, correct profile, and sound temperament.
Zionforest is active in the Pacific Northwest show circuit, with cats competing at TICA and CFA events. Their breeding stock has been sourced from established catteries in the US, Canada, and the UK, and the program has produced Norwegian forest cat show cats with national rankings. Families across Washington state and beyond looking for Norwegian forest cat kittens for adoption can find a program where show quality and health testing go hand in hand.
