WR Ranch
WR Ranch in Oxford, Florida has been raising gypsy vanner horses since 1998, making it one of the longest-running programs of its kind in the country. Bill and Wendy Ricci trace the ranch's origins to an early encounter with Esmeralda and Jasmine, two of the first sixteen gypsy vanners ever imported to North America. That connection to the breed's earliest history in the United States has shaped the ranch's identity ever since.
Located in Sumter County, roughly 45 minutes north of Ocala in the heart of Florida's horse country, WR Ranch has been a resource for gypsy vanner horses in Florida for well over two decades. Bill Ricci served as President of the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society and is a founding lifetime member of the organization, reflecting a deep commitment to the breed's development at a national level. The ranch has bred multiple show champions, including WR Young Latcho Lou, recognized as the winningest gypsy vanner stallion, and Supreme Champion mares WR Sahara and WR Boos' Miss Q. WR horses have also been featured in Vogue magazine and exhibited at numerous venues across the country.
